A Community United for Mental Health - Mother’s Day / Mental Health Awareness Sidewalk Sale

There are moments in life that remind us how deeply connected we truly are as a community. Our recent Mother’s Day / Mental Health Awareness Sidewalk Sale was one of those moments.

What began as a heartfelt desire to support mental health initiatives within our community quickly grew into something much more meaningful — a beautiful coming together of compassion, generosity, and collective purpose.

This fundraiser was not something I accomplished alone. It was made possible through the incredible partnership, dedication, and compassion of Carolle Kerfoot, whose hard work, generosity, and shared vision were truly half of the heart behind this event. Her commitment to helping the community and supporting mental health awareness played a tremendous role in making this fundraiser such a success, and I am deeply grateful for everything she contributed.

Mental health affects so many individuals and families, often in silence. Through this fundraiser, our hope was not only to raise funds, but also to raise awareness, encourage connection, and remind people that support and kindness still exist all around us.

The day itself was filled with warmth, laughter, and an incredible spirit of giving. We hosted a community sidewalk sale, offered special Mother’s Day mystery bags, and sold homemade baked goods and coffee generously donated by members of the community. Every table, every donation, and every conversation carried a sense of care and shared intention.

One of the most touching parts of this experience was witnessing the overwhelming generosity from the community. People donated items, baked goods, time, energy, and financial contributions with open hearts. The kindness shown throughout the event was truly inspiring.

We were also blessed with many wonderful volunteers whose support helped make the fundraiser such a success. Their dedication, hard work, and willingness to step forward for a meaningful cause reminded us that when people unite with compassion, beautiful things can happen.

Together, we raised slightly over $1,100 for mental health initiatives in our community. While the amount itself is meaningful, the deeper impact was the message behind it: people care. People want to help. People are willing to stand beside one another in support of healing and wellness.

This fundraiser was a reminder that even small acts of kindness can create powerful ripples. A donated coffee, a purchased mystery bag, a baked treat, a volunteer’s helping hand — every contribution mattered.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, attended, shared encouragement, or supported this event in any way. Your generosity and compassion made a lasting impact, and we are deeply grateful.

Together, we are helping create a community where mental health matters, healing is supported, and no one feels alone.

With gratitude,

Annette Chiappe & Carolle Kerfoot
